This is a definition and evidence checklist — not a sold ranking and not a “best humanoid” trophy board.
A humanoid robot is a robot whose form and locomotion are organized around a human-like body plan: typically a torso, a head (or head-equivalent sensor suite), two arms for manipulation, and bipedal (or human-scale dual-leg) locomotion — built to operate in spaces and with tools designed for people. That morphological definition is necessary but not sufficient for buyers. On Robotscomparison we pair it with an evidence checklist so announcements, demos, and fleets stay in separate lanes.
For this site, a platform counts as a humanoid when most of the following hold:
Not automatic humanoids under this brief: fixed-base industrial arms, classic AGVs/AMRs without a humanoid upper body, quadruped “robot dogs,” and pure telepresence carts. Some products blur boundaries (e.g. wheeled humanoids); we describe morphology honestly rather than stretch the label for SEO.
Calling something a humanoid does not mean it is:
Morphology ≠ maturity. Maturity is scored with evidence.
We use the same five buckets as our methodology and the 2026 humanoid evidence shortlist:
| # | Bucket | What a careful reader can verify | Example (illustrative, not ranked) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Status clarity | Field, pilot, limited production, pre-order, research / announced | Digit field vs Digit 5 announced; Optimus Research / ramp |
| 2 | Paid deployments | Named sites, customers, duration, use case | Digit logistics narrative; Figure 03 BMW sequencing project |
| 3 | Third-party record | Customer/partner statements beyond the vendor blog | BMW Group release for Figure 03 path |
| 4 | Price transparency | List price, RaaS framing, or honest — | G1 / NEO publish paths; many enterprise programs — |
| 5 | Availability | Order, contract, waitlist, or no public channel | Shop/pre-order vs partnership-only |
Generation discipline: historical generations stay separate from current models. Digit 4 field evidence ≠ Digit 5 announced. Figure 02 history ≠ Figure 03 current. Mixing them inflates the new stack with the old stack’s hours.
Unknowns stay unknown: if payload, runtime, price, fleet size, or SLA is not in a checkable primary source, we write —. We do not invent Evidence Scores to fill blanks.
Use these labels when reading news or product pages:
We do not convert any of these into a sold ranking or paid “#1” placement.
| Platform | Humanoid morphology? | Dominant public evidence class (2026) | Buy surface |
|---|---|---|---|
| Digit · Agility Robotics | Yes (biped logistics) | Field logistics hours / named sites | Enterprise / RaaS |
| Figure 03 · Figure AI | Yes | Partner factory project + vendor scale/demos | Enterprise; consumer list — |
| NEO · 1X Technologies | Yes (home-oriented) | Pre-order / price path; household fleet proof thinner | Public pre-order / subscription |
| Unitree G1 · Unitree Robotics | Yes (compact biped) | Public list price / developer channel | From ~US$13.5k (ex tax/ship) |
| Optimus · Tesla | Yes | IR / production-ramp / internal Academy focus | External catalog — |
Same word — “humanoid” — five different evidence problems.
Before you treat a humanoid claim as procurement-ready:
Full criteria: methodology. Navigation shortlist (not a rank): 2026 humanoid evidence shortlist.
Nearly all bipeds marketed as general-purpose workplace or home robots fall under our working definition. Niche bipeds built only for entertainment props may be humanoid in shape but irrelevant for industrial/home evidence scoring — we say so when we cover them.
We describe them accurately (humanoid upper body + wheeled base) and score them on the same evidence buckets. We do not silently relabel them as bipeds for comparison tables.
No. We do not sell rankings or paid “#1” placements. The evidence shortlist is editorial navigation by checkable public evidence.
Channel-dependent. Platforms with public list or pre-order paths (e.g. G1, NEO) differ from partnership-gated pilots (Figure 03, Digit) and Research / IR programs (Optimus). Always re-check Status on each /robots/{slug}/.
