What is MenteeBot?
MenteeBot is the humanoid built by Mentee Robotics, an Israeli AI-first robotics company co-founded by Mobileye founder Prof. Amnon Shashua, Prof. Shai Shalev-Shwartz and CEO Prof. Lior Wolf. The company is now on its third-generation platform and describes it as fully vertically integrated. Mentee designs its own actuators, motor drivers, electronics and redundant compute in-house.
The design is built around learning rather than scripting. MenteeBot perceives the world with cameras only, builds a real-time 3D map of its surroundings and uses language models to turn spoken instructions into tasks. Its hot-swappable battery is meant to keep it working around the clock.

How MenteeBot learns and what it does
Mentee trains MenteeBot's walking and hand control in simulation and transfers it to the real robot (Sim2Real). New tasks are taught by "mentoring": a person demonstrates or describes a task and the robot learns it from a few examples. Mentee's showcase task is warehouse box handling. Its demo shows two MenteeBots autonomously moving boxes between racks. The company also targets manufacturing and, longer term, households.
Mentee labels its demo videos clearly: navigation, picking and placing, and mentoring clips are marked "Not Teleoperated", while some dexterity clips (power tools, fragile objects) are marked "Teleoperated". Mobileye says the 2026 customer pilots are meant to run autonomously, without teleoperation.
Mobileye acquisition and roadmap
- Jan 2025: Mentee's third-generation robot appears at CES; Mentee lists the v3 unveiling in February 2025.
- 6 Jan 2026: at CES, Mobileye agrees to acquire Mentee Robotics for about US$900 million in cash and stock.
- 3 Feb 2026: acquisition completed; Mentee becomes "Mentee by Mobileye".
- 2026: first on-site customer proof-of-concept deployments expected, running autonomously.
- 2028: target for series production and commercialization.

MenteeBot generations (v3 current)
Mentee lists a third-generation unveiling in February 2025 and a CES 2025 v3 appearance. The /bot/ spec block does not say which version it describes; this page does not invent a generation label for those numbers.
How MenteeBot compares
- vs Figure 03: similar size class (Figure 03 is 168 cm, 61 kg per our page). Both pitch a single AI-first humanoid for logistics and home. MenteeBot's distinctives are camera-only perception and Mobileye's automotive-scale manufacturing ambition.
- vs Agility Digit: Digit 4 is in North American commercial deployments, per our Digit page. MenteeBot targets the same tote and box work but is at the pilot stage until 2028.
- vs Tesla Optimus: both come from companies with automotive AI and manufacturing backgrounds (Tesla; Mobileye). MenteeBot publishes its body specs and a dated 2026 pilot / 2028 production roadmap.
