What is the EngineAI SE01?
SE01 was EngineAI's first full-size humanoid, released about a year after the company was founded in October 2023. EngineAI built it to show a natural, human-like gait. It trained its walking controller end to end with reinforcement and imitation learning, and it builds its own planetary, harmonic and linear joint modules. The body is aircraft-grade aluminium.
For perception, SE01 combines LiDAR, depth, infrared and stereo cameras with an IMU. It has six-DoF, five-fingered hands with force feedback. EngineAI shows it walking, turning, squatting, doing push-ups, running and jumping. It is aimed at research, education and industrial development.
EngineAI describes SE01 as the "world's first full-size general-purpose humanoid robot achieving anthropomorphic gait" — that is a maker claim, not a fact we rest the page on.
